PRESS RELEASE COVID-19 – UPDATE

COVID-19 has been detected in the Mission Head Quarters (MHQ) amongst the EUTM personnel.
The Mission is applying the necessary isolation procedures to these personnel.
The respective Senior National Representatives have been informed and all cases are asymptomatic and accommodated within the EUTM MHQ designated isolation facility.
Medical personnel is maintaining the monitoring of their status on a daily basis.
It is noted that the Malian Government and other international organizations operating in Bamako, have also experienced outbreaks of COVID-19 recently and it is a reflection of the increasing prevalence in the city of the virus that it has now entered the Mission.
For the Mission there is limited impact on its activities as this outbreak is centered on Bamako and impacting on the MHQ only.
Most of the planned activities for EUTM are based on decentralized training outside of Bamako and so there is significantly less prevalence in the regions of the virus.
In order to continue to protect these activities the Mission ensures that all personnel deployed on these activities are screened with Antigen tests and monitored throughout.
The priority of the Military Force Commander remains the health of all and to ensure that EUTM continues to support Mali.
