06 Apr EUTM MALI AND THE LOGISTIC SUPPORT
EUTM Mali conducted, among many others, two Logistic Courses for 14 Officers and 5 Non-Commissioned Officers (NCO’s) belonging to the Malian Armed Forces (MaAF), the National Guard and the Gendarmerie at the Koulikoro Training Camp. The courses took place between the 10th February and 3rd April 2020. The Logistic Officer Course aims were to provide future logistic Officers with skills to act as experts in the field of logistics, be able to lead and supervise their Soldiers as Company Commanders and advise the Battalion Commander on logistic support and conduct their advice with planning and support skills when preparing, executing and reviewing the operation. The course was focused on the Battalion level and it lasted 8 weeks.
Accordingly, the Logistic NCO Course aims were to provide future logistic NCO’s with skills necessary to work independently and reliably in the field of logistics and be responsible for logistic support within unit. This course was focused on the Company level and it lasted 4 weeks.
During the courses, the trainees had the opportunity to learn the basics about the principles of logistics, the fields of logistics and quality management and basic safety measures while working in a logistics field. Furthermore, they had the opportunity to deepen their knowledge in the field of transport, supply and road traffic, maintenance and troubleshooting, ammunition, fuel and lubricants. Lastly, they had an introduction into accounting and SILOG. In addition to these lessons, the Officers also learned logistics management, logistics flows and medical logistics.
EUTM Mali continues to respond to the operational needs of the MaAF through the provision of training support and training and advice on command and control, the logistics chain and human resources.
