17 Jan A VERY REALISTIC SCENARIO, MECHANIZED INFANTRY COURSE
A Mechanized Infantry Course for 24 students (2 NCOs and 22 soldiers) ended on Monday. The students all came from mechanized infantry units equipped with the CASSPIR armored personnel carrier. Their training culminated this week with a full day Exercise.
The Exercise incorporated counter-ambush techniques, counter-IED, patrolling, dismounted close combat techniques and operations in built-up areas. In a very realistic scenario, students were challenged in multiple different environments. This included using the trainers to act as civilian personnel to add a humanitarian and civil rights dimension to the Exercise.
The course is another example of the continuous work EUTM Mali conducts with our MaAF counterparts to prepare and train soldiers for future deployments.
