Mission Force Commander

Vita Brigadier General Christian Habersatter

1988-1989: Joined the Austrian Armed Forces.

1989-1992: Attended the Military Academy of Austria in Wiener Neustadt.

1992-1995: After graduating at the Austrian Military Academy as an Engineer Officer in 1992 service in the territorial infantry regiment as platoon leader and Deputy Company Commander with several border surveillance missions.

1997-2000: Attended the General Staff Course at the Austrian National Defense Academy.

2000-2003: Assigned as Chief of Staff and Deputy Brigade Commander of the 6th Infantry Brigade.

2003-2004: Assignment as Battalion Commander of 14th Armor Battalion.

2005: Deployment to BOSNIA and HERZEGOWINA as Chief of Staff of a Multinational Task Force and National Contingent Commander.

2006-2009: Branch Head LogPlans and Deputy J4 in the Austrian Land Forces Command with a deployment to KOSOVO as Branch Head G2. Promotion to the rank of a Lieutenant Colonel in 2008.

2009-2012: Assigned as Plans Officer and Liaison Officer to the German Joint Forces Operations Command and the German Federal Ministry of Defense. Promotion to the Rank of a Colonel in 2010.

2012-2015: Served in the General Staff Division of the Austrian Federal Ministry of Defense.

2015: Promotion to the rank of Brigadier General.

2015-2017: Brigade Commander of the 3rd Mechanized Infantry Brigade.

2017-2019: Commander of the Austrian Rapid Operations Command.

2019: Brigade Commander of the 3rd Infantry Brigade (Rapid Forces Brigade).

2019: Mission Force Commander of the European Union Training Mission in Mali (since 12 June 2019).

Brigadier General Christian Habersatter is the 12th Commander of the EUTM Mali. His predecessor:
