The best way to get to know a culture is through its people

Last week a representation of EUTM Mali, composed of MHQ staff of various nationalities (ESP, DEU, ROU), was invited and participated in the launching of the activities of the ʺFédération des Associations Toumast Inhadane Généraleʺ (FED.A.T.I.G. ).
The objective of the event was for the Ministry of Culture of Mali to officially proclaim the launching of the activities of the Federation of Touaregs (FEDATIG), whose objectives are, among others, the promotion of Tuareg craftsmanship and culture, the preservation of their cultural heritage, and their usefulness in mediation and conflict management to ensure peace and stability.

The event took place at the Bamako International Convention Centre (CICB), under the patronage of the Minister of Crafts, Culture, Hotel Industry and Tourism, Mr. Andogoly GUINDO, and attended by, among others, the Ambassador of Algeria in Mali, the Governor of Kidal, the Mayor of Commune 3 of Bamako and various representatives of several ministries, as well as youth, musical, craft and cultural associations, and the presence of several presidents of the 31 associations that make up the FEDATIG, spread between Timbuktu, Gao, Kidal, Menaka and Bamako, and other countries such as Niger, Nigeria, Burkina Faso, Togo, Cameroon, Algeria and Saudi Arabia.

The EUTM Mali Cultural Advisor (CULAD) gave a speech in French on behalf of the General Commander of the mission, thanking for the invitation, highlighting the importance of history, tradition, cultural heritage and the values received from the ancestors in the essence of the people.
The members of the mission EUTM Mali are eager to learn about locale culture and traditions hoping that together with the Malian Armed Forces we will be able to create a secure environment that will allow people to live in peace and harmony.
