HELP! ACT! SAVE A LIFE!

EUTM Mali understands how vital it is to support local women’s groups, which are at the forefront of promoting a culture of non-violence and peace in society. Proactively, the mission, represented by the human rights and gender advisor, language advisor and the Force Protection Unit experts, assisted by the National Network of Rural Girls and Women of Mali, delivered first aid lectures as part of EUTM Mali’s project “Help. Act. Save a life”.

The participants were mostly women who account for the vast majority of those affected by armed conflict in Mali. They are in a very precarious situation and cannot offer to pay for such a course. The lectures were provided by an experienced professional rescuer and taught first aid techniques, specifically techniques used when immediate medical intervention cannot be provided.

The participants were familiarised with first aid best practices whilst there was also a focus on the most common medical cases and prevention of the most common mistakes. This event would not have been possible without the help of Madam Fatoumata Maille Tounkara, the Regional Chairperson of the National Network of Rural Girls and Women of Mali.
