On 19 August, EUTM Mali’s soldiers contribute to the World Humanitarian Day

In recent months, Belgian soldiers from EUTM Mali took the initiative to organise a collection action for the benefit of disadvantaged people in Mali. On the occasion of the World Humanitarian Day on 19 August, the Mission Force Commander was able to hand over the donation to an orphanage in Bamako.

The EUTM Mali’s soldiers contribute to the World Humanitarian Day to enhanced respect for international humanitarian and human rights law. The restoration of a lasting peace in Mali is essential for long term stability in the Sahel region and in a broader sense for Africa and Europe. The UN 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development committed to fostering peaceful and inclusive societies and affirmed that “Sustainable development cannot be realized without peace and security”.
