16 Oct MPCC DIRECTOR VISITS EUTM MALI MISSION
Lieutenant General Esa Pulkkinen, director of the Military Planning and Conduct Capability (MPCC) made an inspection visit to the EUTM Mali mission between 23 and 25 September.
The MPCC is the permanent, non-deployable structure of Command and Control of the European Union Military Staff that assumes the command of non-executive military missions currently deployed in Somalia, the Central African Republic and Mali. It is therefore the upper echelon of the Mission Force Commander, Brigadier General Enrique Millán.
The visit took place during 3 intense working days in which General Pulkkinen was able to verify the progress made by the mission. The MPCC commission visited the EUTM Mali facilities in Bamako and Koulikoro, as well as the possible future detachment of Sévaré, which is currently being planned. In Koulikoro, the main base of the mission, General Pulkkinen was able to inspect the Force Protection capability provided by Spain, as well as the training activities carried out by ETTF.
Finally, the delegation attended several Key Leader Engagements with authorities such as the Chief of the European Delegation in Bamako, the Malian Armed Forces Chief of Defence, the Commander of the UN Mission MINUSMA and the Deputy Commander of the G5 Sahel Joint Force.
