EUTM Mali trains its close protection team in night time Air Medical Evacuation procedures

Late in the evening, on 4 September, EUTM Mali trained the Close Protection Team about night time Air Medical Evacuation (AEROMED) drills. The drills are a key skill for the Close Protection Team to understand how to ensure a swift and effective handover of casualties to the medical teams. The training is one of many MEDEVAC exercises which includes rehearsal and familiarisation of casualty reporting, how to mark a helicopter landing site, and standard signals used for helicopter marshalling. Night-time adds the extra element of co-ordination of casualties and ground personnel in the dark as they wait the AEROMED helicopter; teamwork at its best!
