27 Sep EUTM MALI, PRESENT AT THE MALIAN INDEPENDENCE DAY PARADE
The multinational unit, reflecting the composition of the mission, represented EUTM Mali in a parade marked by the presence of numerous foreign dignitaries.
On September 22 in Bamako, EUTM Mali was present at the parade of the 58th anniversary of Malian Independence. The multinational unit was composed of a commander, the flag of the European Union with a escort and a formation of 18 personnel from the mission.
The military parade, chaired by the President of the Republic of Mali, Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, was attended by institutional representation of the highest level of many African countries as well as the French Minister of Foreign Affairs, Jean-Yves Le Drian.
Almost 8000 soldiers from all the Armed Forces corps marched through Mali Avenue on this important day for the African country. Among the participants were units of EUTM Mali, Barkhane and MINUSMA, a symbol of the strong cooperation between military forces. Also taking part in this day were the armies of all the countries that make up G5 Sahel. The military parade included a parade of land forces, both on foot and mounted, an air parade and, finally, a parachute demonstration.
This event highlights the spirit of collaboration between EUTM Mali and the Malian population, fruit of the daily partnership between the components of our mission and the Malian Armed Forces.
