EUTM Mali improves its force protection command structure in preparation of the tasks approved in the 4th Mandate.
The Force Protection (FP) Unit of EUTM Mali reorganises its structure from Company to Group in order to be prepared to accomplish the tasks established in the newly approved 4th Mandate. The Force Protection Group is based in Koulikoro Training Center (KTC) and will be composed of two FP Companies, a Combat Support Unit and a Logistic Support Unit. The final strength will be achieved when infrastructure works are authorized and implemented.
The change of command of the Unit took place during a Ceremony conducted on the 26th of May in the Koulikoro Training Center. After six months accomplishing its tasks the Force Protection Company Commander Captain Gabaldon handed over to the newly arrived Lieutenant Colonel González-Felgueroso who is the new Force Protection Group Commander.
The ceremony was chaired by the MFCdr General Enrique Millan. Col Olazabal, Education and Training Team Force (ETTF) chief, commanded the parade. The Spanish Ambassador Miguel Gómez de Aranda, EUTM Mali Command Group, Col Dembele, Malian Armed Forces KTC Commander, and all the ETTF personnel were also present.
The ceremony included a tribute to the fallen comrades of EUTM Mali; Portuguese Sargento-ajudante Fernando Benido and the Spanish Infante de Marina Antonio Carrero Jiménez.
